Perfect your hand-lettering with this easy to follow PIN hand-script step by step. Once you master these simple hand-lettering tricks you’ll be whipping up all manner of slogan-themed art works.
We know hand-scripted art work is really fashionable right now so don’t be afraid to give it a go. With so many different sized nibs PIN can give you a variety of different line-widths and styles. When you combine these different nib-sizes on your text you’ll be able to all sorts of effects. So get practising and your on-trend hand-script art work will be the talk of the town.
Easy hand-lettering step one
Draw the skeleton of your letters, adding finials and spurs to create an extra flourish as we have done here. Soften the lower-case letters with curved lines and rounded edges as shown on the ‘b’.
Easy hand-lettering step two
Create depth by drawing curved lines inside the bowl of the text and outside the stem, as shown.
Easy hand-lettering step three
Colour in your text by using blocking, stippling or simple linear techniques as shown. Experiment with different nib sizes for a variation line and finish. For more details on these art techniques check out our drawing technique how-to.
If you like a more expressive hand-lettering style, then grab your uni-PIN brush. You can use the PIN’s brush nib to create free-flowing text. Hold the pen at a 45-degree angle when you are writing to make it more expressive and make the most of the brush. Keep practicing as the results with your brush pen can we really impressive.
