GOSH Valentine's Party activities with POSCA Pens

We are excited and proud to have supported Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity’s (GOSH Charity) fifth Valentine’s Party which took place on Sunday 10 February 2019.

The very special family event was held at The Lindley Hall, London, which welcomed more than 500 guests including parents and children to take part in an afternoon of Valentine’s themed fun.

The younger guests were entertained with an array of activities including t-shirt printing, model building, jewellery making, biscuit decorating and creative fun with uni-ball’s POSCA pens.

The POSCA pens were used on the “personalise my heart” activity stand where children could  colour in and create their own designs.

Raising vital funds

The Valentine’s Party  is part of an appeal to raise vital funds to support GOSH’s new Sight and Sound Centre, supported by Premier Inn. Children with visual or hearing impairments make up the largest outpatient group at GOSH – with an average of over 2,900 patient visits each month from across the UK. Although they are already receiving world class care, the new, highly specialised facilities have been designed to transform the hospital experience for children with hearing and sight loss.

Our work with GOSH

Our relationship with GOSH Charity is incredibly special to us. Since 2016, our charitable partnership has helped to raise more than £200,000. Since June 2016, for every GOSH Charity branded uni-ball Eye twin black ink or triple black ink pack sold, uni-ball has donated 20p plus VAT to the charity. We also continue to support the charity with activities throughout the year and are always happy to donate our range of writing and arts and crafts pens for staff and patients to use and enjoy. POSCA pens have even been used to decorate some of the wards!

The Play Team

Money raised through the sale of our bestselling pens and through staff fundraising go towards supporting the hospital’s dedicated Play Team, who design creative activities for children to help aid their treatment and recovery.

Spend any amount of time at GOSH and you’ll soon notice the Play Team; a legion clad in purple and lilac. This colourful crew are dedicated to bringing fun into the hospital and making life as normal as possible for the children who need to be there. The play team provides vital support to families, helping children prepare for procedures, providing distraction and bringing fun and smiles where they can.  The  play team provides innovative strategies to make the child’s experience of hospital as stress-free as possible, helping them find a way to cope and ensuring they don’t miss out on being children.

We look forward to more collaborations with GOSH this year and are delighted to support the all important work of the Play Team.
