DIY POSCA Christmas Hot Chocolate Jar: all you need

You will need:

  • Marshmallows
  • Hot chocolate
  • POSCA PAINT MARKER PENS
  • An empty, clean jar
  • White card
  • Labels
  • Glue stick and Blu Tac
  • Elastic band
  • Brown paper
  • Scissors
  • Wooden sticks (Please make sure they are dry and not damp from the garden otherwise they will not stick with the glue)

STEP 1:
Before filling the jar with your chosen hot chocolate, please make sure you that have washed out the jar thoroughly to avoid any smells or taste from the previous contents. Remove the outer label of your jar ready for personal decoration.

Begin your hot chocolate jar by filling 2/3 of your jar with the chosen hot chocolate, then topping the final third of the jar with marshmallows.

STEP 2:
Using your brown paper, cut a circle that is larger than the size of the lid of your jar. Carefully using your scissors cut out two small holes in the centre of your circle (approximately 6cm apart). Using your elastic band, attach your brown circle around the lid of your jar. Apply glue to the bottom of your wooden sticks and carefully poke the sticks in the two holes you created in the lid.

If your glue isn’t very tacky, try using Blu Tac between the lid of the jar and your brown paper circle, placing the Blu Tac where your two holes are and poke the sticks through the holes into the blu tac.

STEP 3:
Now it’s time to get drawing with your POSCA markers. Using your POSCA pens, draw some big expressive eyes and a big red nose on your white card. Carefully cut these out using your scissors. If this is too fiddly you can skip this and draw directly onto the glass using your POSCA paint markers.

STEP 4:
Glue your eyes and reindeer nose onto the front of your jar using your glue stick. Grab a black POSCA paint marker and draw on a mouth below your red nose on the glass. We have given this reindeer jar a cheeky smirk!

STEP 5:
The final step to completing your DIY hot chocolate jar is to attach a label. Use your POSCA makers to write a personalised messaged for your loved one, for example “ENJOY!” or “To help keep you warm on winter nights”.
