Our Heritage

For over 125 years we’ve designed and created every uni-ball product with you in mind. The uni-ball story begins in 1887, when Niroku Masaki founded a small company in Shinjuku, Tokyo, creating pencils of superior quality and style.

The company soon became the Uni Mitsubishi Pencil Company, and maintains its commitment to quality, innovation and safety to deliver exceptional writing experiences.​

We are reducing single-use plastic packaging, optimizing our shipping standards, decreasing our carbon footprint and committing to work with like-minded suppliers in order to eliminate or control environmental hazards.

Our aim is to use the most environmentally friendly supplies, energy and renewable or recycled materials wherever possible. We’re continuously thinking carefully about the impact we have on the world and how we can look after it for generations to come.

ISO 9001:2015 is internationally recognised as the world’s leading quality management standard. The purpose of the standard is to assist uni-ball in meeting statutory and regulatory requirements relating to our products while achieving excellence in our customer service and delivery.

Environmental Management

ISO 14001:2015 is a systematic framework to manage the immediate and long term environmental impacts of an organisation’s products, services and processes. This certification shows that uni-ball’s environmental management system meets international industry specific environmental standards.

FACILITY AND SHIPPING INITIATIVES

Reviewing all our suppliers and only working with those that meet our criteria for sustainability

Investing in machinery that prints directly onto the shipping boxes we reduce the need for labelling therefore less backing label waste sent to landfill
Reduction in void space in shipping boxes increases capacity on pallets therefore reducing waste, space and transport requirements
We’re shredding 90% of our paper to use as fill-packaging instead of bubble wrap

FACILITY AND SHIPPING INITIATIVES

We’ve increased direct shipping to 95% in order to reduce our carbon footprint

We’ve optimized pack sizing to reduce the wasted air in our boxes
