POSCA Paint Markers are fantastic for a range of art, crafts and up-cycling projects as these easy POSCA customisation updates show.
These customisation projects are so simple you can try them with a group of mixed abilities, perfect if you’re looking for a good-value activity for kids.
A perfect paint marker
POSCA paint markers are the gold-standard multi-surface, creative pen. The pens are non-toxic and water-based so they are great for kids activities. This makes makes POSCA great value as one pen has a multitude of uses.
While POSCA pens are also permanent and bleed-proof on paper, card and canvas, they can also be made permanent on the following:
- Terracotta – bake at 220°C for 45 minutes, then spray with clear varnish
- Porcelain – bake at 160°C for 45 minutes, then spray with clear varnish
- Glass – bake at 160°C for 45 minutes then spray with clear varnish
- Textiles – iron on reverse
- Metal, stone, leather, plastic and wood – spray with clear varnish
We have some brilliant POSCA customisation updates you can try with your POSCAs, here are four favourites.
Perfect plates
Exploring simple shapes and colours can create some really lovely, contemporary looking results. So why not get a set of plain plates and decorate them with bright and colourful shapes using POSCA markers?
Just check out these funky designs here – all whipped up with POSCA paint pens. To create more design interest on your plates, wait for your simple POSCA shapes to dry then use a contrasting POSCA colour to overlay dots, dashes and criss-crosses on the original coloured layer.
We’re sure you’ll agree that look quite cool but they’re really easy to do. Be playful and don’t worry about being super perfect – it’s simply a great way of exploring shape and colour with your POSCAs.
Beautiful bags
We love creating unique fashion pieces by upcycling fabric with our POSCA pens. How about this for a simple customisation?
This purse project is one of our favourite POSCA customisation updates. We used simple shapes to create our bag designs here. We made a really simple geometric bird illustration and nestled our feathered friend in a tree of simple leaves and flowers. In our other design we make basic pebble shapes in light colours and waited for them to dry. Once dry use a contrasting POSCA marker to draw over sprig and leaf shapes over the pebbles. Use the POSCA to add dots to finish.
Stella stones
Stone painting is a great fun project. And with POSCAs you can take the faff and fuss out of the process. Because we have paint in a pen you don’t have to worry about brushes or drippy paint. You can simply draw your design directly on the stones and fill with lovely POSCA colour.
We’ve got a brilliant step by step tutorial for these flower stones, take a look here…
Yes to yo-yos
We had really good fun with our POSCA pens decorating these plain wooden yo-yos.
Again we used simple shapes and lines to create our animal themed yo-yos. You can keep it really simple like our black and white panda design or make a magnificent mane on a proud lion.
