Create an ornate peacock artwork with uni-PIN pens

Black and white needn’t be boring as this peacock illustration shows, you can create an ornate peacock artwork with uni-PIN pens.

You can make a  great impact just by using different marks and filling techniques. The Uni-pin is  fantastic for this as the 0.5 nib allows you to fill in large areas with solid black while  still letting you make fine lines and delicate dots.

Feel free to copy this pattern using our template (see link below) or  just use the basic shapes and create your own. The level of detail on this artwork is  up to you but take your time on this, after all you can’t rush perfection.

1: TRACE YOUR PEACOCK TEMPLATE

To get started on your  peacock artwork with uni-PIN pens. Use your template (download by clicking here ≥ Peacock templates), to trace the basic  peacock artwork onto tracing paper. Don’t worry about getting every detail of this, just get the basic shapes of the feathers and the overall structure right as you can copy the details or make your own later. Transfer the tracing onto plain paper.

2: FILL IN YOUR PEACOCK WITH UNI-PIN

Go over the tracing with your 0.5 PIN pen, making sure you are happy with the overall composition of the piece.

3: PRACTICE AND PLAY WITH LINE AND PATTERN

If you fancy creating your own patterns on the feathers, practice various strokes and shapes on a piece of scrap paper before you commit it to your finished piece. This is a zentangle-inspired design, so while you can always copy direct from the template, take a look at the wealth of zentangle style designs you can create with you PIN on Pinterest.

4: MAKE IT YOUR OWN

Now you have the basic black and  white drawing on paper (and you’ve  practiced your pen strokes) you can add details to the bird. Either use the template to copy from, filling in where shown, or employ your own design.
